">Rideau Hall

6 months back A Rideau Hall former employee tells CBC News about the racial discrimination that forced her to quit after being reprimanded by her employer for speaking out against anti Black racism. 3:06 PM The government has begun rebuilding Governor General's office following the resignation of Julie Payette, her second-in command, and Assunta Dilrenzo. This was in response to a damning report that a consultant firm had issued. It found that both were responsible for a toxic and poisonous workplace.

Consulting firm had the mandate to help define the problem and not find facts. According to the report, workplace investigators found evidence of "yelling and screaming", aggressive behavior, humiliation, insulting comments, and yelling." Rideau Hall refused to address El Hilali’s particulars in its reply to CBC News. The office said it's in an "important period of renewal" and is "taking meaningful action regarding the unjust treatment of Black people, other racialized groups, and Indigenous peoples in our society." Rideau Hall's office stated that it supported the appeal by Ian Shugart of Clerk of Privy Council last month for the end of "all forms discrimination and oppression" within the public sector. Shugart addressed the heads of each department, asking them to fight racism to ensure employees are empowered and feel safe speaking up when faced with barriers to equity or inclusion.

"The government has agreed." Trudeau repeated this message last week at a news conference, and then reflected on Black Lives Matter protests around Canada.

Trudeau, on Friday, said "I saw," "I heard you. And I agree. It is past time to make changes. Eli Hilali stated that Trudeau cannot keep promising more.
