There are lots of things to see and do as you explore the world's only working farm in the heart of a capital city! Visitors have the unique chance to view a variety of farm animals that are important for Canadian agriculture, and learn more about their food habits. There are many breeds that are common in Canadian agriculture such as Holstein and Angus dairy cows. The museum also features Canadienne, Milking Shorthorn and Tamworth pigs. You will also find many other types of beef and dairy cattle, including pigs as well, chickens, horses, sheep, and rabbits.

For your health and safety, some interactive elements and zones are currently unavailable, including: the Demonstration Kitchen, the play area in Canola! Seeds of Innovation, the play area in Food Preservation: The Science You Eat, the second floor of the Learning Centre, costumes and hands-on items in the Soil Lab.

Enjoy lunch at Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. This farm's picturesque location is perfect for picnic lunches or snacks.

You can also find bottle-filling fountains on site. For health and safety reasons, there are no drinking fountains. It is recommended that guests take their own water bottles.

Vending machines provide hot and cold beverages and light snacks. A picnic and a sack lunch are options for a full meal. You are prohibited from using hibachis or barbecues on the premises.

Canada Agriculture and Food Museum invites you to capture still and video images during the Museum's opening hours. All photography is for personal use only, not professional.

Respect the animals when using your digital camera. Your safety and the well-being of animals could be compromised if you get too close. All indoor photography and video needs to be performed with hand-held cameras only.

Photographers must ensure they respect staff and volunteers' privacy. It is important that volunteers and staff are not distracted from their duties by your activity. You are prohibited from taking photographs of Museum personnel or volunteers, or any other visitors. Photography of day camp participants and visiting school children is prohibited at all times.

Agricultural museum in Ontario, Canada The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum ( French : Musee de l'agriculture et de l'alimentation du Canada) is a national agricultural museum Ottawa Ontario , Canada. The museum is located in several buildings of the Central Experimental Farm and offers public programs and exhibits about agriculture science and the history and development of Canada's agriculture. The museum organizes traveling exhibitions that are not only held here but also at other museums around the country.

Although the Central Experimental Farm was established in 1920 as a museum, the museum became the Agriculture Museum. The federal government opened a national museum about agriculture only October 1983. Initially occupying only a dairy barn, the museum later expanded to include several other buildings on the Central Experimental Farm. Before it was given its current name, in May 2000 the Canada Agriculture Museum was established.
