Walmart considers who an immediate relative.
Walmart defines an immediate relative as someone that is directly related to an employee.
It can be by adoption, birth, marriage, domestic partner, or civil union. This could include spouses and children as well as siblings, grandparents or grandchildren.
This allows employees to claim bereavement pay for any loss in the immediate family or loved ones. According to the guidelines, bereavement leaves can be granted at the discretion of a manager for any other individual’s death.
Walmart employees are entitled to bereavement leaves of up to 30 days.
Walmart standard bereavement time can take as little as three days. However, this is up to the discretion of the supervisor.

Walmart will pay bereavement leave employees at the hourly standard rate to the extent they are expected to work, except for temporary workers.

Walmart’s bereavement policy is actually more generous than the law, as there is currently no federal statute requiring employers to provide bereavement leave.
Oregon is the only one to pass such a law. It allows workers up to 12 weeks of bereavement time per year. However, unlike Walmart’s usual three-day leave this is not paid.
