Walmart gift cards have a wide range of products which make them extremely valuable. It’s sometimes more convenient for you to have cash. You may wish to swap gift cards to get cash.
So you may be wondering – can I get cash back from a Walmart gift card? What can I tell you about Walmart’s policies regarding cashback for gift cards?
Can You Get Cash Back From a Walmart Gift Card In 2022?
Walmart does not give cash back on Walmart gift card balances as of 2022. Customers in certain states, such as California and Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts or Montana can still receive their remaining gift card balances, up to $10, through Rhode Island, Oregon, Washington, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana or New Jersey.
The following hack, while it is not possible to get cashback with a Walmart Gift Card (or any other official method), seems to be very effective.
Step 1: You will need to purchase an item that is slightly more expensive than the Walmart Gift Card and pay the difference with cash or card.
The $55 product could be purchased with a $50 Walmart gift card and $5 cash.
Make sure you save the receipt once the payment has cleared. Walmart considers this “cash purchase”.
Step 2 – Keep your product in their original box. Return it within 14 days.
Step 3: You will now receive a refund which can be put onto a debit card or received in cash.
If you live in a state that requires gift card retailers to issue cash refunds, then take your Walmart giftcard to a customer care desk to request to have it exchanged for cash.
If the store employee doesn’t know what your state has to say about gift card returns, you may need to speak with a manager.
Some states place restrictions on the amount of cash that can be returned from gift cards. California, for instance, requires that the balance of the gift card be below $10 to qualify for a refund.
Before you request cashback from your gift cards, make sure that your state has its own rules.
Can I Sell My Walmart Gift Card for Cash?
Although you can get your full purchase amount in cash, it is possible that the total value might be less than what you paid for. Many gift card exchange sites like Raise, CardCash, and Cardpool can buy Walmart gift cards, though usually less than their full value.
Walmart also has an offer for you that lets you exchange your gift cards to other stores up to 95% below the original value.
