Welcome To Saunders Brothers Farm Market
Saunders Brothers in Nelson County is a family business. It is located on the blue-ridge side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Five brothers, who had been raising rabbits and other crops during times of hardship like the Great Depression, started the business in 1915. Tobacco and rabbits are not part of today's product line. Second generation Paul Saunders, who added boxwood to their inventory in the 1950s, has made them the company's speciality. As the company produces more peaches than apples, fourth and fifth generation Saunders members make up most of today's majority. Our more than 400 greenhouses are equipped with a variety of herbs and woody plants.

Who are they? Saunders Family Farm, who are you?
Lisa Saunders runs Saunders Family Farm with the help of her family. Jerry, who is an old friend, feeds all the animals. Quinn, Lisa's younger son, manages equipment and crops maintenance. Sam, Lisa's daughter helps with that. This farm is truly family-owned!
Why did you go into farming? What inspires you to keep going on the long and hard days?
Lisa stated that farming was a part of her life for most of the time. In Hoosick Falls (New York), she grew up with a dairy farmer. She was a milker and kept calves, while also helping with haying. Lisa loved 4-H, and she showed the cows at numerous fairs as a youngster. Lisa shared that she lives for farm life. There are ups as well as downs. However, it gives me joy.
Lisa loves chicken but also enjoys sausage.

Saunders Farm hosts Sculpture Show
"Eulogy for the Earthworm," Gianni Biaggi. The Collaborative Concepts outdoor sculpture exhibition will be moving this year from Garrison to Brewster after 14 seasons at Saunders Farm near Garrison.
Based in Putnam Valley, Collaborative Concepts, a nonprofit dedicated to presenting professional art to the community, said that the county tourism agency invited the group to relocate to Tilly Foster, which covers 200 acres.
Dell Jones, Collaborative Concepts Representative, stated Wednesday, September 2, that Tilly Foster, along with other attractions, allows visitors ample room to move around safely. This is a major concern during a year marked by pandemics.
She said, "It has something to do with social ditancing." "That was my most important point."
Linda Sheridan's "Fecund Pod." Jones also said Jones that it seemed like a great match for the open setting. We are looking forward to a great show with good attendance." Jones said that the county has tried to attract people to its farm which features scenic vistas, trails and animals such as pigs, alpacas and chickens.
Collaborative Concepts announced that they are moving and "hope to maintain its traditional patrons while drawing new visitors from Putnam County, Dutchess Westchester, Connecticut, and Connecticut." This is the opportunity to view art face-to-face if you are longing for it, said Collaborative Concepts.
"Shift," by Linda Schmidt The annual installation had taken place at Saunders Farm on Old Albany Post Road in Garrison since its debut in 2006. Collaborative Concepts thanks Sandy Saunders (and Shelley Saunders) for "their years of hospitality, generosity and hosting the two month show on their property."
