Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN), which was made a Crown corporation under the Museums Act in 1990, is Canada's National Museum of Natural History. Canada's National Museum of Natural History (CMN) was established in 1990 as a Crown Corporation under the Museums Act. The modern glass structure of CMN Ottawa Ontario features a hanging whale sculpture created by Susan Mcarthur–Lelletier. In 1889 Macoun compiled his catalogue that was one of the earliest on flora and became an international benchmark for excellence
Victoria Memorial Museum Building
The Victoria Memorial Museum Building will be a mirror of Canada's Parliament Buildings. It is part of the bigger plan for Ottawa's Centretown. Victoria Memorial Museum Building from Metcalfe Street. From Metcalfe Street, the building contains exhibitions and programs. There is also a huge green 3 acre lot that people can use to picnic or explore Ottawa. It is situated at 1 Rideau Canal Dr. in Centretown, just south of Parliament Hill. The Victoria Memorial Museum Building was built in the honour of Queen Victoria. After its 1905-1911 construction, it was designed to host the nation museums. It now hosts paintings from around the globe. The Canadian Museum has a diverse collection that includes everything from fossils to paintings. The museum is home to many rare and valuable pieces that range in age and style.
One such piece is a fossilized tooth belonging to an ancient species known as Megalonyx jeffersoni or Jefferson's ground sloth who roamed North America during the Pleistocene Era until about 10,000 ye – thanks for stopping by!

At the National Gallery of Canada we are proud of our ability to make art more accessible. The gallery is open every day except Wednesday (11am-4pm); Thursday (10am-7pm); Friday (11am-7pm); Sunday (11am-1pm): Sundays from 11am-1:30pm. Members only are allowed to enter. Monday (Closed), Tuesday (Closed). This year's Colonel By Day marks its 10th anniversary. This Saturday, August 2, will mark Colonel By Day! Our hours are flexible and you can find special exhibits across the 3 galleries.
Our hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday to Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (except Thursday). Mondays are reserved for members only though!
The Museum
A group can visit museums in a number of ways. Tour operators will be happy to help you with information regarding bringing schools or community groups. Contact us at (555.555.5555) if you have an event that your company is planning and need museum tours. Most museums offer complimentary admission to one disabled person. There is no reason for anyone not to visit the museum because it is free. Also, the accessibility policy explains how guide may enjoy their experience. If you don't book in advance this is a smart idea. The museum is fully accessible. Admission to our permanent galleries is free for one person accompanying a disabled individual.
I would like information about bringing group of people to the museum, whether it's your school or community group, we offer some special packages and ask us now! Is it possible for someone with a disability to go on a museum tour? All of the museums are accessible to wheelchairs. There are ramps available at all entrances and lifts on every level. Staff will be happy to assist any member of your group who has difficulty getting around. You may be required to spend more time with groups due to course content or other physical requirements. Special tours are available.
The History of Cmn
In 1842 Sir William Logan started the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC), to collect and report on mineral resources. He created public exhibits for his collection at London’s Great Exhibition, which received great success and praise from all over the globe. GSC's 1956 formal mandate gave him the authority to lead it into the next stage. The institution would not only be devoted to surveying but would also record life through its vast collections of minerals, flora, fauna and other fossils. It is possible to find material from the Geological Survey of Canada in many institutions. Sir William Logan's pioneering work documenting Canada’s mineral resources began in 1842. This was after an exhibition held at London.
They can now be found in many places: UBC Museum of Anthropology (MOA), Robson Square's BC Heritage Mining Park. The Victoria Memorial Museum Building was built in Ottawa, Canada, in 1905. The building was opened in 1974, four years after it had been completed. It was the first purpose-built federal museum built by Canada. From 1969 through 1974, the building was renovated extensively. It housed exhibits on its lower level and offices and workshops upstairs. Accessible via an elevator, it also had access to them. The CMN was established by an act of Parliament on November 12th 1867 to bring Canadians together through history – from the past to present day times.
